Wellness programme for electric guitar
One day Paul Karnstein stopped into my workshop with his `79 Stratocaster and an interesting request.
He found that his guitar had too much weight and too little resonance. He asked me if it was possible to make it into a Reso Line guitar.
On the fotos you can see how the idea was carried out. The lacquer got removed from the body, about 12 mm cut off the top of the body and the whole body generously chambered. After this the removed material was replaced with a new top and the body reshaped a bit more elegantly as before. In the end the body got sprayed in a sunburst nitro finish. The neck was also remodelled. It received new frets and finish. All plastic parts were replaced such as pickguard, pickup covers and control knobs.
Paul was absolutely delighted by the result. His guitar was now 720 gramms lighter and sounded a lot better!
